Fun Homemade Christmas Gift Ideas Under $15

Fellow crafter, have I got some fun ideas for you if you’re looking for some good homemade holiday gift ideas to make for friends, family, teachers, or neighbors!

I have feeling you’re the same way when it comes to gift-giving – you don’t want to just give any ‘ole thing. You want to make something that people will actually enjoy and really appreciate. You want to be excited to give out your gifts and for them to actually mean something!

But, you also don’t want to break the bank purchasing supplies to make them. Sometimes it’s hard to come up with ideas that people will actually like and that don’t cost an arm and a leg.

Well, I’m super excited to share these following ideas with you – I think you’ll find some great inspiration on here. Several of these DIY Christmas gifts are easily customizable – change up colors or patterns to fit others’ preferences, and add a personal touch to several of these options by adapting them to your recipients’ name, home state, or home décor.

And, several of these options are really, really easy to make in bulk, so if you’re wanting to make a bunch of the same gifts – maybe for neighbors, coworkers, or teachers – you’ll find a number of options on this list that you can easily assemble in batches.

Yay, friend! Let’s get to brainstorming what all we can make this Christmas season! ?

1. DIY Felt Home State Ornament

DIY Home State Felt Christmas Ornament - Easy, inexpensive, budget-friendly, sentimental homemade Christmas gift idea for a friend or family member!

If you’ve got family or friends who live in another state (or maybe even in another country), what a sweet gift this DIY Felt Home State ornament makes! (And, if you’re making it to send out of state, the bonus about this gift is that it’s SUPER easy to ship – it’s very lightweight and it’s very easy to package up.)

Especially if you’re making several of these at once, the cost of making these is almost negligible. Seriously, such a cheap gift, yet it’s so thoughtful!!

Customize this with the states (and/or countries) you use to make your ornament, and you can also customize the colors. Naturally, I chose red and blue, but you could choose softer, more neutral colors like tan or grey, or you could choose colors that have a different significance – maybe ones that represent professional sports or college teams.

When I made this ornament, I made a couple versions to send to my grandparents and aunt & uncle in Wisconsin, and I also made another version for my cousins who live in California. Super sweet gift idea!

2. Rustic Farmhouse-Style Christmas Cookie Platter

DIY Rustic Farmhouse-Style Christmas Cookie Platter

Similar to the felt home state ornaments, you can customize this to the recipients’ home state as well! I include other colloquialisms equivalent to “y’all” in the tutorial for this platter, so you can make a different version of this depending on who you’re making this for.

This makes such a fun Christmas gift (and a really great hostess gift, too!) – you can make it to give with the cookies on it, or perhaps just make the platter and then get a cookie cutter to go along with it.

This is a pretty easy homemade project as well, and it has a great dual purpose – when you’re not using it as a cookie platter for a Christmas party or holiday gathering, you can make it part of your Christmas décor and display it in your kitchen.

Reusable Chalkboard Mason Jar Drink Labels - Christmas

Similar to the appetizer skewers, these reusable mason jar chalkboard labels make such great DIY hostess gifts or homemade Christmas gifts for people who enjoy entertaining!

You can use these reusable chalkboard drink labels over and over again – I made my first set of these several years ago and they’re still working just fine. That elastic hasn’t worn out a bit, and the chalkboard label is just as easy to wipe clean today as it was 5 years ago!

Make Christmas versions as a gift, or use any color or elastic pattern you think your recipient would like. Or, make a few sets to give away so they can use different sets for different occasions. They’re so fun to make, and yet again, easy to customize and make in bulk.
