Ingredients

  • 5-6 medium-large avocados
  • Juice from 1.5 limes*
  • About ⅓ bunch of cilantro about ¼ c chopped
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped red onion
  • ½ c salsa**
  • 1 tsp garlic salt to taste (1-2 tsp)
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1-2 tsp salt to taste

Instructions

  • Peel and de-seed the avocados. Add avocados to large mixing bowl, squeeze in lime juice, and add cilantro.
  • Using a hand or stand mixer, blend the avocados and lime juice until consistency becomes creamy - about 15-20 seconds. (If you want chunkier guacamole, don't mix for too long.)
  • Stir in remaining ingredients - onion, salsa, and seasonings, and stir until everything is well-blended.
  • Enjoy by itself with tortilla chips, or use it as a delicious topping for tacos, burgers, or sandwiches!

Notes

* If you want it even tangier, you can add more lime juice, but this is my favorite ratio of lime to guac.
** You can use any kind of salsa, but I'm partial and always use my homemade salsa for this!
TIPS:
  1. For spicier guacamole, add in red chili flakes, finely diced fresh jalapenos, and/or use a hotter salsa in the recipe.
  2. For even chunkier guacamole, or to just use up some leftover tomatoes, you can mix in diced up vine-ripened or roma tomatoes.
  3. Homemade guacamole will last for a couple of days in the fridge. For better results, especially if you have quite a bit left over, add the guacamole to a glass bowl and cover the top of the guac with a layer of plastic wrap (with the piece of plastic wrap directly on the surface of the guacamole to prevent more air exposure), then top with a lid to make it an airtight container.
