Valentine’s Day is coming up, and I wanted to share a simple idea for you and your family to connect on or around this special day with a Family Valentine’s Day Dinner. We often associate Valentine’s Day with romantic love, but I personally look at it as an excuse to bake heart-shaped cookies and make Valentine-themed desserts, as well as an opportunity to remind others in my life that I love them and care for them (and oh my gracious, I could be soooo much better at doing that).
I’ve never made a huge deal out of Valentine’s Day, but I’ve been finding more and more that it can just be an annual date on the calendar to remind ME to remind others that I love and care for them.
I’ve created a printable conversation guide for you to consider using with your family over a special meal. Cook something fun together, order pizza, grill up some burgers…whatever! The whole point is to just get everyone around the table together to enjoy each other’s company and to hopefully connect and learn a little more about each other.
Gathering around the table together – a seemingly simple act that often feels so complicated to accomplish because of busy and conflicting schedules – is one of the most important things we can do. Because of this, in our house, as hard as it is sometimes, we try to prioritize making family mealtimes happen regularly throughout the week. I love creating these Fun Family Dinners in hopes that it encourages you to gather more often with your family and to set some times apart to make a family meal extra special!
