I know not all people get such joy from planning parties, but I love all of the prep work – I love the creative aspect, but I also anticipate the celebration of something, whether it’s a person, a milestone, or just a fun occasion. Big or small, celebrations are so fun to plan!
I needed something to bring a little flair to a big wall of photos I put up for Elizabeth’s first birthday a while back. I made this cute tulle tassel and ribbon banner to separate two long strands of photos I hung above it and below it.
Just as with some of the other decor items I made for her party – the fringe banner, the burlap pennant banner, and the hanging burlap cupcake – this was very easy and very inexpensive to put together! And, just as with the other items, this can obviously be tailored to fit any theme just by changing up the colors of tulle and ribbon!
Here’s what you need:
- An assortment of tulle (I bought a yard of each color you see below, but I didn’t need anywhere near that much tulle to make a 5″ banner with these little tulle tassels. I probably used less than half of each color.)
- Ribbon to tie on each tulle tassel
- String/thread/twine long enough to span the area where you want to hang the banner
Let’s get started!
These four pieces don’t need to match perfectly. You’ll be trimming off excess tulle in a few steps, so don’t worry too much about cutting them the exact same size and then matching them up precisely on top of one another.
I didn’t need to double knot the ribbon – just doing one knot sealed the deal, but you may need to double knot it depending on the type of ribbon you use.
That’s it! Then just do the last step to fasten the tassel on the string!
Repeat those steps with the remaining tulle and make as many tassels as you’d like depending on how long you want your banner to be.
A cute way to dress up a drab area!
